4A Region I District 8 recap November 5, 2013
Adding to the longest winning streak in 4A Region I District 8 this week, Everman beat Cleburne 32-23. This was the team's fourth consecutive win.
Joshua fell to Burleson 41-7 last week, the largest margin of any game. Garrett Hoffman threw for 82 yards and ran for 69 yards in the loss.
Waco's dynamic duo of Traynham Moore and Dwight Worthy proved tough for Centennial to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Moore threw for 224 yards and 4 touchdowns and Worthy had 111 yards receiving. Tyler Taylor helped Waco's passing attack out by catching 2 balls for 98 yards.
Matt Marner was a passing and rushing force as Crowley beat University. He completed 12 passes for 234 yards and 4 touchdowns and also ran for 27 yards. Marner's key target this week was Tayvon Glover, who caught 3 passes for 65 yards.
6-foot-0 quarterback Marner of the Eagles is the league leader in passing yards this season with 1,553. He has also thrown 20 touchdowns. The leading receiver in the league this season is Taylor. The Waco star has 31 catches for 747 yards.
As it stands, the Lions are in third, while Everman is in second.
