The Purnell Swett Rams''s four-game losing streak came to an end on Saturday. They narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past Douglas Byrd 14-12. The victory was just what Purnell Swett needed coming off of a 48-0 loss in their prior contest.
Darius Bethea was the offensive standout of the matchup as he rushed for 127 yards and two touchdowns.
Douglas Byrd's lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Talik Mccollum, who picked up 97 receiving yards and two touchdowns.
Purnell Swett's victory bumped their record up to 5-5. As for Douglas Byrd, they still haven't won a game yet this season and fell to 0-10.
Purnell Swett will head out on the road to face off against Lumberton at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Douglas Byrd, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Seventy-First at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Seventy-First will be hoping to continue their three-game streak of scoring more points each contest than the last.
