Basketball Recap: Maddie Cole Key Part of a Team Effort in Pioneers Win

Heritage hadn't done well against Brookville recently (they were 0-9 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. The Heritage Pioneers strolled past the Brookville Bees with points to spare, taking the game 42-25. This was payback for the Pioneers, who suffered a 45-36 loss the last time these two teams met.

Heritage's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Maddie Cole, who posted 12 points in addition to five boards and three steals. Those 12 points gave Cole a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Tailor Coles, who scored eight points and seven rebounds.

Heritage smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 16 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive rebounds in three consecutive contests.

Heritage's victory was their first in the region, bumping their region record up to 1-4 and their overall record up to 4-9. As for Brookville, their defeat was their fourth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 2-12.

Heritage has already played their next match, an 82-57 loss against Jefferson Forest on the 28th. As for Brookville, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 43-28 defeat against Rustburg on the 28th.
