Eli Nelson made a big impact no matter where he played. On the mound, he tossed seven innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off five hits. That's the fewest earned runs he has allowed since back in February of 2024. He was also big at the plate, scoring a run while going 3-for-3. Those three hits gave him a new career-high.
In other batting news, Landon Kyle was incredible, going a perfect 4-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and two doubles. Shades Valley is 2-1 when Kyle posts two or more runs, but 1-14 otherwise.
Meanwhile, Holtville earned a 4-1 win over Autauga Academy on Thursday.
Shades Valley's victory ended a six-game drought on the road and puts them at 3-15. As for Holtville, the win got them back to even at 10-10.
