The Fort Payne Wildcats will face off against the Oxford Yellow Jackets at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are closely ranked in Alabama (Fort Payne is ranked 94th, while the Yellow Jackets are ranked 72nd).
Fort Payne can now show off ten landslide victories after their most recent contest on Thursday. They breezed by Westminster Christian Academy at home to the tune of 50-15.
Oxford lost a heartbreaker when they last took the court, but unfortunately for them the loss they were handed on on Tuesday was a bit more commanding. They were beaten by Spring Garden 66-38. Oxford has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Despite the defeat, Oxford had strong showings from Ava Thomas, who scored eight points along with seven rebounds, and Xaionna Whitfield, who scored 18 points.
Fort Payne's victory bumped their record up to 18-10. As for Oxford, they dropped their record down to 14-13 with that loss, which was their fifth straight on the road.
Fort Payne lost to the Yellow Jackets on the road by a decisive 71-52 margin when the teams last played last Tuesday. Can Fort Payne avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
