Softball Recap: Make It Five in a Row for Central Noble

Central Noble came tearing into Saturday's game with four straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 8 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They never let the Adams Central Flying Jets get on the board and left with a 12-0 win. Considering the Cougars have won 11 contests by more than six runs this season, Saturday's blowout was nothing new.

Grace Swank made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, keeping things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out 13 over five innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in four consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 2-for-2 with three RBI, two doubles, and one run. That's the most doubles she has posted since back in May of 2024.

In other batting news, Avery Deter was excellent, going 1-for-2 with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI. She has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times she's played. Nevaeh Schoup was another key player, going 1-for-2 with two RBI and one run.

Central Noble hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. The team has now struck out at least four batters in 13 consecutive matches.

Central Noble pushed their record up to 13-4 with the victory, which was their eighth straight at home. Those home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.4 runs over those games. As for Adams Central, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-10.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Central Noble will challenge West Noble at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Adams Central, they will host New Haven at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
