Softball Recap: Middleburg Wins Going Away Against Bartram Trail

Middleburg got themselves on the board against Bartram Trail on Monday, but Bartram Trail never followed suit. They put the hurt on the Bears with a sharp 8-0 win. The result was nothing new for the Broncos, who have now won nine games by six runs or more so far this season.

Karleigh Sanford looked comfortable as she tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than two walks in eight consecutive appearances.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Kerra Clarida, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, five RBI, and two runs. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in March. The team also got some help courtesy of KK Hagan, who went 2-for-3 with three runs, one double, and one RBI.

Middleburg is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 15-7 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.0 runs over those games. As for Bartram Trail, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 14-10.

Looking ahead, Middleburg will challenge Baldwin at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Indians' pitching crew has only allowed 3.2 runs per game this season, so the Broncos' hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Bartram Trail, they will take on Mandarin at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Bears' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Mustangs have averaged an impressive 7.6 runs per game this season.
