CHELSEA, Okla. - A big 22-point second quarter helped carry the Ironmen to a 42-13 victory over
Chelsea (Okla.) on Saturday.
Nowata scored on a touchdown run by
Cory Hobbs, a touchdown pass by
Wyatt Steigerwald to Hobbs and a Steigerwald touchdown pass to
Dalton Schell in the quarter.
After taking the lead on a
Nate Moore touchdown run in the first quarter, NHS led 28-0 at the half.
The Ironmen expanded their lead to 42 points entering the fourth quarter. Nowata scored two times in the third, including once on a Moore touchdown run.
With the win NHS extended its winning streak to five games. The Ironmen defeated the Wildcats 53-8 last week.
Nowata's most effective player was Moore. The junior running back ran for two touchdowns and kicked one extra point.
NHS went into the matchup giving up only 11.0 points per game.
The victory is a complete turnaround from last season's game between these two teams, which the Dragons took, 21-0.
