Even though the Monahans Loboes have not done well against the Andrews Mustangs recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Tuesday. Monahans enjoyed a cozy 59-42 victory over Andrews. This was payback for Monahans, who suffered a 44-41 loss the last time these two teams met.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Monahans to victory, but perhaps none more so than Cheno Navarrette, who scored 22 points along with six assists and five steals. Navarrette is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last 14 games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Kyle Vanek, who scored 22 points.
Monahans has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won ten of their last 11 games, which provided a nice bump to their 16-10 record this season. As for Andrews, they have traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost nine of their last 12 games, which put a noticeable dent in their 10-16 record this season.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Monahans will take on Greenwood at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in Greenwood's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last six contests. As for Andrews, they will look to defend their home court on Friday against Seminole at 7:30 p.m. Seminole is looking to tack on another W to their six-game streak on the road.
