It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact the Wichita Falls Coyotes can now relate to. They took a hard 51-33 fall against Canyon on Thursday. While losing is never fun, Wichita Falls can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas football rankings (they are ranked 620th, while Canyon is ranked 279th).
When it comes to explaining why Wichita Falls lost, one person who can't be blamed is Eric Powell. Despite the final result, he rushed for 142 yards and a touchdown.
Wichita Falls are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-9. Admittedly, the team was facing some tough opposition over that stretch, including 7-3 Springtown and 7-4 Decatur (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 61.4% over those games). As for Canyon, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 9-2 record this season.
Wichita Falls does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Canyon also has no future games currently scheduled.
