The Winamac Warriors will take on the Kouts Mustangs & Fillies at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. Winamac is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.7 runs per game this season.
Triton hit Winamac with a four-run fifth inning on Friday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Warriors lost 11-5 to the Trojans. The Warriors have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Eli Budka made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and got on base in four of his five plate appearances with one run and one double. That double was his first of the season. Cash Roth was another key player, going 3-for-4 with one run.
Meanwhile, Kouts waltzed into their matchup on Saturday with three straight wins... but they left with four. They put the hurt on the Satellites with a sharp 13-2 win. Considering the Mustangs & Fillies have won 11 contests by more than eight runs this season, Saturday's blowout was nothing new.
Landon Garrett and Billy Miller made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, Garrett pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Meanwhile, Miller struck out 11 batters over five innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off five hits. Those 11 strikeouts gave him a new career-high. At the plate, Garrett went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI, while Miller went 2-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI.
In other batting news, Reid Estill was incredible, going 3-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and one stolen base. That's the most hits he has posted since back in April of 2024. Another player making a difference was Eli Harper, who got on base in two of his four plate appearances with two runs.
Kouts' victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 15-3. The road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.0 runs over those games. As for Winamac, their defeat dropped their record down to 12-7.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Monday as neither team is afraid to steal. Winamac has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.1 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Kouts struggles in that department as they've been averaging 2.9 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
