AAAAA Region 2 recap November 5, 2013
Warner Robins scored a stunning upset when it knocked off Northside, 28-18. At the time, the Eagles were ranked fifth in the state, while the Demons were 43rd.
Evans moved up to 113 from 146 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in AAAAA Region 2. The Knights climbed the ranks as a result of defeating Lakeside 26-21.
Houston County's dynamic duo of Jake Fromm and Jaylen Searcy proved tough for Jones County to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Fromm threw for 183 yards and 2 touchdowns and Searcy had 94 yards receiving. Josh Flowers helped Houston County's passing attack out by catching 7 balls for 77 yards.
Sean Vandiver was a key player and the best on defense this week as Evans defeated the Panthers. He recorded 1 fumble.
He was 12-20 with 0 interceptions.
The leading receiver in the league this season is Flowers. The Houston County star has 36 catches for 364 yards.
A big matchup in the league this week will be when Lakeside takes on Warner Robins. At the moment, Jarrett Troxler's team is in third, while Bryan Way's team is in first.
