The Gulfport Admirals will head out on the road to take on the Ocean Springs Greyhounds at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Both teams have had a bumpy ride up to this point with three consecutive losses for Gulfport and nine for Ocean Springs.
Gulfport suffered their biggest defeat since December 12, 2023 on Friday. They had to suffer through a rough 74-38 loss at the hands of Harrison Central. While losing is never fun, Gulfport can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Mississippi basketball rankings (they are ranked 157th, while Harrison Central is ranked 13th).
Meanwhile, Ocean Springs was beaten by St. Martin 57-10 on Friday. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Ocean Springs has scored all season.
Gulfport has not been sharp recently, as they've lost four of their last five games, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-18 record this season. As for Ocean Springs, they bumped their record down to 2-13 with that loss, which was their third straight on the road.
Gulfport strolled past Ocean Springs when the teams last played two weeks ago by a score of 45-27. The rematch might be a little tougher for Gulfport since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
