Foothill hasn't had much luck against Esperanza recently, but that could start to change on Thursday. The Knights will face off against the Aztecs at 3:15 p.m. Foothill will be looking to extend their current 11-game winning streak.
Foothill's pitching crew heads into the contest hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Tuesday. They were the clear victors by an 18-0 margin over Troy.
Bianca Casella was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out 13 over five innings pitched. She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than one earned run any time she's pitched this season. She was also big at the plate, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two RBI, one run, and one double.
In other batting news, Foothill got a massive performance out of Tabby Herr, who got on base in all three of her plate appearances with three RBI, two runs, and one triple. Avery Victer was another key player, going a perfect 2-for-2 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple.
Foothill always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .583. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Troy only posted an OBP of .062.
Meanwhile, after soaring to 11 runs the game before, Esperanza was a bit more limited in their game on Tuesday. They came up short against Sunny Hills, falling 19-0. The Aztecs have struggled against the Lancers recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive lost matchup.
Esperanza saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Leilani Thomas, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one double.
Foothill's record now sits at 13-8. As for Esperanza, their loss dropped their record down to 7-12.
Foothill got the 'W' in their previous matchup on April 7th against Esperanza by a conclusive 11-1 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Knights since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
