With a playoff game on the line, the Bell County Bobcats rose to the challenge on Friday. They skirted past Belfry 24-22. The victory was nothing new for Bell County as they're now sitting on five straight.
Daniel Thomas continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, rushing for 249 yards and a touchdown. Thomas is absolutely dominating the rushing yard category: he's posted at least 100 every time he's taken the field this season.
Despite the loss, Belfry still got an impressive performance from Dre' Young, who rushed for 200 yards and three touchdowns. Young is on a roll when it comes to rushing touchdowns, as he's now punched in two or more in the last four games he's played.
Bell County pushed their record up to 11-1 with that win, which was their 11th straight on the road dating back to last season. That said, the team wasn't facing the toughest opposition over that stretch, as it included 1-9 McCreary Central and 2-9 Lincoln County (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 42.8% over those games). As for Belfry, their loss ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 8-4.
Bell County will take on East Carter at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. East Carter will be looking to extend their current eight-game winning streak. Belfry does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
