Even though the Woodland Regional Hawks scored an imposing 59 points on Friday, the St. Paul Catholic Falcons still came out on top. St. Paul Catholic managed a 63-59 win over Woodland Regional. This was payback for St. Paul Catholic, who suffered a 77-62 defeat the last time these two teams met.
Despite the loss, Woodland Regional still got an impressive performance from Dean Accetura, who scored 31 points along with five steals. Ethan Stepputtis was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on 11 points and 14 rebounds.
St. Paul Catholic's win bumped their record up to 1-0. As for Woodland Regional, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-1.
St. Paul Catholic will head out on the road to face off against Oxford at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Woodland Regional will be home for the holidays to greet Ansonia on Tuesday.
