Bishop Eustace Prep extended their winning streak to six on Tuesday, bumping them up to 9-3-1. They were the clear victors by an 8-1 margin over the Shawnee Renegades. The result was nothing new for the Crusaders, who have now won seven matchups by six runs or more so far this season.
JJ McLaughlin was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run while striking out seven over five innings pitched. Those seven strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also big at the plate, going 1-for-2 with one stolen base and one run.
In other pitching news, Carson Brandt looked comfortable as he tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one walk any time he's pitched this season.
Back at the plate, the team relied heavily on Dante Matarese, who fired off two home runs, three runs, and three RBI while going 2-for-4. That's the most home runs he has posted since back in May of 2025. Max Sullivan was another key player, going 2-for-4 with one home run, two RBI, and one double.
Bishop Eustace Prep lost a few balls and finished the game with three home runs. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Shawnee didn't launched any.
As for Shawnee, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 8-5. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last five times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.
On Shawnee's side, Timmy Dougherty was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he tossed 4.2 innings while giving up just two earned (and two unearned) runs off six hits.
At the plate, Shawnee saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Cole Anderson, who went 3-for-4 with one run. Cooper Allen also deserves some recognition as he got his first hit of the season.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Bishop Eustace Prep will host Camden Catholic at 3:45 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Shawnee, they will welcome Rancocas Valley at 3:45 p.m. on Wednesday. The Renegades' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Red Devils have averaged an impressive 7.2 runs per game this season.
