Zach Emery tossed a big game, tossing five innings while giving up three earned (and one unearned) runs off seven hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Robert Ward, who scored three runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3. That's the most runs he has posted since back in February of 2024. Robert Bryson was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 1-for-2.
Paxon School For Advanced Studies always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .647. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Covenant School of Jacksonville only posted an OBP of .440.
Meanwhile, Ribault was not the first on the board on Friday, but they got there more often. Everything went their way against Raines as Ribault made off with a 10-3 victory. The Trojans haven't had any issues with the Vikings recently, as the game was their third consecutive win against them.
Christian Morales made a splash while hitting and pitching. He didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out seven over four innings pitched. Morales was also big at the plate, scoring a run and stealing a base.
In other batting news, Ribault let Kenny Bibbins and Jaquarious Moore run wild. Bibbins scored a run and stole Three bases. while going 3-for-3, while Moore scored three runs and stole Three bases. while going 1-for-3. Moore also scored three runs, which is notable because Ribault is undefeated when he posts at least two runs, but 1-4 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Jaquan Marion, who scored two runs and stole Two bases. while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.
Paxon School For Advanced Studies' victory was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 6-2. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 4.0 runs on average over those games. As for Ribault, the win got them back to even at 4-4.
Ribault's hitters will have their work cut out for them on Monday. Paxon School For Advanced Studies has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 7.6 strikeouts per game. It's a different story for Ribault, though, as they've been averaging only 3.8 strikeouts. Will Paxon School For Advanced Studies keep running through batters, or will Ribault buck the trend?
Paxon School For Advanced Studies took their victory against Ribault in their previous meeting back in March of 2023 by a conclusive 20-2. Does Paxon School For Advanced Studies have another victory up their sleeve, or will Ribault turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
