The Copper Hills Grizzlies's road trip will continue as they head out to face the Eastside Catholic Crusaders at 11:00 a.m. on December 19th. Hopefully Copper Hills focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 13 on Friday.
Copper Hills has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won four matches by 22 points or more this season. They blew past Woods Cross 57-32. Given Copper Hills' advantage in MaxPreps' Utah basketball rankings (they are ranked first, while Woods Cross is ranked 39th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Copper Hills can attribute much of their success to Skylie Barker, who almost dropped a triple-double on 14 points, ten rebounds, and nine assists, and Ellie Taylor, who scored 19 points along with eight rebounds and eight steals. That makes it five consecutive games in which Taylor has scored at least 25% of Copper Hills' points. The team also got some help courtesy of Avery Norman, who scored seven points.
Meanwhile, Eastside Catholic's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Wednesday after their third straight loss. They fell just short of Roosevelt by a score of 52-50.
Copper Hills' victory was their tenth straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 8-0. They've been dominating during the games in that stretch too, as they've won by an average of 18.8 points. As for Eastside Catholic, their loss dropped their record down to 1-3.
