Minooka is on a four-game streak of home wins, while Oswego is on a four-game streak of away wins: one of those streaks is about to end. The Indians will host the Panthers at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. Minooka is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 10.5 runs per game this season.
While Minooka's win against Plainfield Central wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Indians sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 15-14 victory over the Wildcats on Thursday. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Indians have posted since April 21, 2025.
The team relied heavily on Addisonn Crumly, who fired off two home runs, five RBI, and three runs while going 4-for-4. That's the most home runs she has posted since back in March. Another player making a difference was Ava Knutsen, who went 2-for-4 with one home run and two RBI.
Minooka was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .556. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .366 or higher in ten consecutive matchups.
Meanwhile, after a string of four wins, Oswego's good fortune finally ran out on Friday. They fell just short of Sycamore by a score of 8-6. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest loss the Panthers have suffered since April 7th.
Adalynn Fugitt put in work no matter where she played. She pitched three innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off two hits. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in nine consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with one run and one double.
In other batting news, Betsy Jack made the most of her time in the batter's box despite the final result and went 2-for-4 with one home run and three RBI. Brynn Broughton was another key player, going 1-for-4 with one home run.
Oswego's defeat dropped their record down to 11-8. As for Minooka, their victory bumped their record up to 12-5.
Monday's contest will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Minooka hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .410. However, it's not like Oswego struggles in that department as they've averaged .313. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Minooka might still be hurting after the 10-0 loss they got from Oswego when the teams last played back in May of 2025. Can the Indians avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
