The Scotch Plains-Fanwood Raiders were the 54-39 winner over the Elizabeth Minutemen when they last played one another back in December of 2023, but their luck changed this time around. Scotch Plains-Fanwood fell 47-40 to Elizabeth on Thursday. Scotch Plains-Fanwood has been going strong on the season, but this is now their second loss in a row.
Elizabeth got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Alexandra Koon out in front who dropped a double-double on 20 points and 21 rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Koon has scored all season. Jah'nae Lembrick was another key contributor, scoring 11 points along with six assists and five steals.
Scotch Plains-Fanwood's loss dropped their record down to 8-2. As for Elizabeth, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 8-3 record this season.
Scotch Plains-Fanwood will head out on the road to square off against Hillsborough at 11:30 p.m. on Saturday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in New Jersey (Hillsborough is ranked 36th, while Scotch Plains-Fanwood is ranked 54th). As for Elizabeth, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Oak Knoll at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Oak Knoll is coming into the game on a five-game losing streak.
