Basketball Game Preview: Calvary Christian Academy LIONS vs. Chestertown Christian Academy Patriots

The Calvary Christian Academy LIONS will venture away from home to challenge the Chestertown Christian Academy Patriots at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. Calvary Christian Academy is coming into the match hot, having won their last three games.

Calvary Christian Academy is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They claimed a resounding 73-41 win over Faith Baptist School.

Calvary Christian Academy got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Xavier Young out in front who went 8 for 9 on his way to 16 points. That's the most points Young has posted since back in December of 2023. The team also got some help courtesy of JR Gillespie (HS), who went 6 of 9 en route to 13 points.

Calvary Christian Academy smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with ten offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least ten offensive boards in three consecutive contests.

Meanwhile, while it was all tied up 21-21 at halftime, Chestertown Christian Academy was not quite Concord Christian Academy's equal in the second half on Tuesday. They fell to the Minutemen 55-50. The Patriots have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Calvary Christian Academy will need focus on slowing down Brian Lloyd, one of several Chestertown Christian Academy players who made an impact when they last played. He posted 23 points and eight steals. Lloyd is becoming a predictor of Chestertown Christian Academy's success: when he posts at least three steals the team is 2-1 (and 1-2 when he doesn't). John Stoltzfus was another key player, dropping a double-double on 15 points and 14 rebounds.

Calvary Christian Academy's record now sits at 7-8. As for Chestertown Christian Academy, their loss was their first in the region, dropping their region record down to 2-1 and their overall record down to 3-3.
