After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Walter Northway, the Minto Lakers were happy to have found some success on Friday. They blew past Effie Kokrine Charter 53-33. That's another feather in the cap for Minto, who also won these teams' last head-to-head.
Minto got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Jena Smith out in front who scored 17 points. Ruth Fox was another key contributor, scoring ten points.
Minto's win bumped their record up to 8-6. As for Effie Kokrine Charter, they still haven't won a game yet this season and fell to 0-4.
Minto does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Effie Kokrine Charter, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Ben Eielson at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Ben Eielson comes in on a streak of failing to score more than 20 points in their last seven games, a trend the team is of course eager to reverse.
