The Dixie County Bears will head out on the road to face off against the Fort White Indians at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Dixie County will be looking to extend their current five-game winning streak.
Dixie County was not the first on the board last Friday, but they got there more often. It was a tight contest that could have gone either way, but they made off with a 19-18 victory over Chiefland.
Meanwhile, Fort White got themselves on the board against Lafayette on Friday, but Lafayette never followed suit. They blew past the Hornets, posting a 35-0 victory on the road. The high flying offensive effort was a huge turnaround for Fort White's seven-point performance the match before.
Fort White's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Dakota Fisher led the charge by rushing for 129 yards and a touchdown while picking up 7.2 yards per carry. Fisher was no stranger to the big play, turning on the jets for a run that went for 55 yards. Fort White also got help from Najeeb Smith who showed off his sure hands for 95 receiving yards.
Dixie County's victory was their fourth straight on the road, which bumped their overall record up to 5-1. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 34.3 points per game. Fort White has been no stranger to the win column this season, as they've started out with wins in five of their first six matches, giving them an identical 5-1 record.
Keep an eye on the end zone in Friday's game as Dixie County and Fort White haven't had much trouble getting there this season. Dixie County commands a daunting offense this season, having averaged 4.5 touchdowns per game. However, it's not like Fort White struggles in that department as they've been averaging 4.3 per game. With these two high-octane teams facing off on Friday, fans should be in for an exciting offensive matchup.
