The Grove City Greyhounds will head out on the road to square off against the Olentangy Orange Pioneers at 5:00 p.m. on Saturday. The two teams each escaped (but just barely!) with wins against their previous opponents.
Even though Grove City has not done well against Lincoln recently (they were 0-9 in their previous nine matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Tuesday. Grove City skirted past Lincoln 66-64. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
Kraig Gilbert was his usual excellent self, scoring 25 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points he has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Keegan Holmstrom, who scored 11 points.
Meanwhile, Olentangy Orange is still undefeated this season after their matchup against Hilliard Bradley on Tuesday, but Hilliard Bradley came as close as anyone has to beating them. Olentangy Orange came out on top in a nail-biter against Hilliard Bradley and snuck past 52-50. The score was all tied up 30-30 at the break, but Olentangy Orange was the better team in the second half.
Grove City's win was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 9-2. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 63.8 points per game. As for Olentangy Orange, their victory bumped their record up to 10-0.
Grove City came up short against Olentangy Orange when the teams last played back in March of 2023, falling 64-54. Can Grove City avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
