Baseball Recap: Allentown Central Catholic Beats Brandywine Heights Area for Their Third Straight Victory

Allentown Central Catholic had to skate by with only a one-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the nine-run drubbing they dealt Brandywine Heights Area on Tuesday. Allentown Central Catholic was the clear victor by an 11-2 margin over Brandywine Heights Area. For the Vikings, this counts as revenge for the 7-0 victory the Bullets walked away with the last time they faced one another back in March of 2019.

Nolan Young made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out seven batters over five innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off four hits. Young was also big at the plate, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two RBI.

In other batting news, Aidan Sorrentino and Patrick Cahill did most of the damage at the plate: Sorrentino scored two runs and stole two bases while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances, while Cahill scored three runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3. Those three runs gave Cahill a new career-high. Jake Strobl was another key player, scoring a run while going 2-for-3.

Allentown Central Catholic always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .526. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Brandywine Heights Area only posted an OBP of .290.

The win (which was Allentown Central Catholic's third in a row) raised their record to 3-0. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.3 runs on average this season. As for Brandywine Heights Area, they now have a losing record of 2-3.
