Central Academy has gone a perfect 10-0 against Monroe recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Tuesday. The Central Academy Cougars will host the Monroe Redhawks at 5:30 p.m. Central Academy is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 9.9 runs per game this season.
Central Academy barely beat Metrolina Christian Academy the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. Central Academy's pitcher stepped up to hand Metrolina Christian Academy a 16-0 shutout on Monday. The victory continues a trend for the Cougars in their matchups with the Warriors: they've now won three in a row.
Addison Crawford was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out nine over four innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in six consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, scoring two runs while going 1-for-3. What's more, she posted two RBI, the most she's had since back in April of 2024.
In other batting news, Emma Hunt was incredible, going 2-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in April of 2024. Another player making a difference was Kieryn Peters, who scored three runs and stole Two bases. while going 2-for-4.
Central Academy was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .435. They are a perfect 4-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.
Meanwhile, Monroe was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their fifth straight defeat. They might be feeling deja-vu: they lost 17-0 to Anson, which was the same score (and result) they got the week prior.
Central Academy's win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 4-3. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.7 runs on average over those games. As for Monroe, their loss dropped their record down to 1-5.
Monroe's hitters will have their work cut out for them on Tuesday. Central Academy has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 6.7 strikeouts per game. It's a different story for Monroe, though, as they've been averaging only 1.3 strikeouts. Will Central Academy keep running through batters, or will Monroe buck the trend?
