KANSAS CITY, Mo. – United Soccer Coaches and MaxPreps announced Thursday the nine athletes that have been named United Soccer Coaches/MaxPreps High School State Players of the Week for their on-pitch efforts from Feb. 8-14.
Results and statistics provided by MaxPreps.com are used to help recognize one boy and one girl from each participating state competing during the winter season.
Coaches wanting to nominate players must submit statistics to MaxPreps in order for their athletes to be considered. Winners receive a MaxPreps/United Soccer Coaches branded letterman's patch and recognition on both MaxPreps and UnitedSoccerCoaches.org.
Nominations are due each Sunday by 11:59 p.m. ET to be considered. Here are this week's winners:
ArizonaBoys
Scored seven goals in two 9-1 victories over Glendale Prep Academy and Phoenix Christian.
Girls
Scored nine goals in two 15-0 victories over Wickenburg and Bourgade Catholic.
FloridaBoys
Leikbuchler defended the goal flawlessly in a 2-0 shutout with 11 saves.
Girls
Ivey put on an offensive display with two goals in their only game of the week ending in a 5-1 victory over Lake Mary.
Louisiana
Boys
In a 7-0 victory versus Westminster Academy, Tymkjw scored two goals and dished out one assist.
Girls
Perkins scored twice and assisted on one goal in a 8-0 win against Central Lafourche.
Mississippi
Boys
In two wins, Owens combined for three goals, including two against Oak Forest Academy.
TexasBoys
Flores put on a show for the fans in a dazzling display ending with seven goals and four assists in a win vs. Atlanta.
Girls
A stellar keeper for the Knights, Thompson completed two shutouts combining for thirteen saves.
