5A District 3 recap Sept. 26, 2012
Memorial extended the longest winning streak in 5A District 3 this week by beating Shawnee, 77-37. The victory was the fourth in a row for the Chargers.
Noble moved up to 136 from 214 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in the league. The Bears climbed the ranks as a result of a 70-42 win over the Bears.
McAlester's offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. On the ground Riley Smith chipped in 119 yards. Tyler Curry helped McAlester's passing attack out by catching two balls for 19 yards.
Keaton Slater was the best wideout in the league this week as the Buffaloes beat Noble. Slater tallied one reception for 29 yards.
McAlester's offense has been unstoppable this season and the Buffaloes feature the season leaders in passing, rushing and receiving yards. Cade Harkins has thrown for 80 yards and two touchdowns this season, while Jarome Smith has 13 catches for 59 yards. Caden Pratt leads the league in rushing with 207 yards.
Two of the top units in the league will face off this week when McAlester takes on the Wolves. Bryan Pratt's team's offense has racked up 125 points this season, earning them the top spot in the league, while Shawnee has allowed only 171 on the year.
Bishop Kelley was the team that gained the most ground in the standings this week, jumping from eighth to third in the league. Earlier in the week, the Comets triumphed over Hale 49-14.
