Baseball Recap: Northwest Picks Up Third Consecutive Victory

Northwest took a six-run loss the last time they faced off against Montgomery Central, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Vikings skirted past the Indians 7-5. The win was nothing new for the Vikings as they're now sitting on three straight.

Trevor Prater made a splash no matter where he played. He tossed 1.1 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in four consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 1-for-2 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.

In other batting news, Northwest let Leonardo Luna and Damien Berry run wild. Luna earned three runs and two stolen bases, while Berry went a perfect 1-for-1 with one stolen base, one run, and one double. Luna continues to improve, besting his previous run total in each of the last three games he's played. Lucas Parker also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen base of the season.

Northwest was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .458. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.

Northwest pushed their record up to 6-19 with the victory, which was their third straight on the road. Those road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.3 runs over those games. As for Montgomery Central, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 9-19.

Northwest does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Montgomery Central, they will face off against Portland at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. The last three games the Panthers have played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.
