The Hawthorne Cougars''s game last Friday was a tough loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Friday. They blew past Beverly Hills 48-6 on the road. The result was nothing new for Hawthorne, who have now won four matches by 42 points or more so far this season.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Hawthorne to victory, but perhaps none more so than Obie Brown, who threw for 236 yards and four touchdowns on only 13 passes. Marcus Bindi and his 80 yards on the ground were also a key factor in Hawthorne's victory.
Hawthorne's defense stepped up as well, laying out the QB eight times. The heavy lifting was done by Yusef Girgis and Jonathan Laguerre who racked up five sacks between them.
Hawthorne has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 4-5 record this season. As for Beverly Hills, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-7.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Hawthorne will challenge Leuzinger at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Leuzinger presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Hawthorne in California (Leuzinger is ranked 55th, while Hawthorne is ranked 804th). As for Beverly Hills, they will head out on the road to face off against Centennial at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Centennial will be hoping to continue their three-game streak of scoring more points each game than the last.
