The Glen Allen Jaguars will venture away from home to take on the Atlee Raiders at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Glen Allen is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.5 runs per game this season.
Monday just wasn't the day for Glen Allen's offense. They fell 3-0 to Matoaca on Monday. Having soared to a lofty 13 runs in the game before, the Jaguars' shutout was a dramatic turnaround.
Jaidyn Tillman spent all nine innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and one unearned) run on three hits and racked up 16 Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks any time she's pitched this season.
Meanwhile, Atlee waltzed into their contest on Monday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They put the hurt on the Springers with a sharp 19-4 win. The Raiders might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won five games by 11 runs or more this season.
Sierra Kegley made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out nine batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit (and not a single walk). Kegley was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI.
In other batting news, Atlee got a massive performance out of Izzie Turnauer, who went 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, three runs, and four RBI. Turnauer also hit two doubles, marking her first of the season. Camdyn Metts was another key player, going 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, three runs, and one triple.
Atlee kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 18 hits. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their hit total in four consecutive matches.
Atlee pushed their record up to 6-4 with the victory, which was their third straight on the road. Those road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.3 runs on average over those games. As for Glen Allen, their defeat dropped their record down to 9-2.
Both Glen Allen and Atlee just can't seem to miss. The Jaguars have been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 8.9 hits per game. However, it's not like Atlee struggles in that department as they've been averaging only 4.6 hits. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Glen Allen was able to grind out a solid victory over Atlee in their previous meeting back in April of 2024, winning 4-1. Do the Jaguars have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Raiders turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
