Baseball Recap: School Without Walls Triumphs

School Without Walls posted their closest win since April 27, 2024 on Tuesday. They had just enough and edged out the Lakewood Gators 8-7.

Charles Davenport was incredible, getting on base in four of his six plate appearances with three runs and one triple. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in hits (two). Another player making a difference was Philip Wheeler, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-1.

School Without Walls has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 10-7 record this season. As for Lakewood, they dropped their record down to 2-10 with the loss, which was their ninth straight on the road dating back to last season.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. School Without Walls will welcome Phelps Architecture, Construction & Engineering at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. The Panthers have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 16 runs per game on average), something the Penguins will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Lakewood, they will host Lower Richland at 6:30 p.m. on the 23rd. The Gators are facing the Diamond Hornets at the right time seeing as the Diamond Hornets are stuck on a six-game losing streak.
