Oakwood hasn't had much luck against Eaton recently, but that could start to change on Monday. The Lumberjacks will head out on the road to take on the Eagles at 5:00 p.m. Oakwood has given up an average of 12.2 runs per game this season, but Monday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.
Madison hit Oakwood with a five-run third inning on Friday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Lumberjacks fell 11-8 to the Mohawks. The Lumberjacks just can't catch a break and have now endured three losses in a row.
Kaitlin Patterson made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and got on base in all four of her plate appearances with one home run, four RBI, and one triple. The team also got some help courtesy of Reed Archdeacon, who went 3-for-4 with two runs and one RBI.
Meanwhile, Eaton gave up the first runs on Wednesday, but they didn't let that get them down. They won by a run and slipped past Brookville 3-2. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Eagles have posted since April 12th.
Meredith Pieratt spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and one unearned) run on three hits. She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Ella Statzer, who went 2-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and one triple. That triple marked the first that she has hit this season.
Eaton is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four games. That's provided a nice bump to their 8-5 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.8 runs over those games. As for Oakwood, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-13.
Oakwood suffered a grim 17-2 defeat to Eaton when the teams last played last Tuesday. Can the Lumberjacks avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
