Baseball Recap: Washington Has No Trouble Against Musselman

Washington had to skate by with only a two-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the ten-run drubbing they dealt Musselman on Monday. The Patriots blew past the Applemen 13-3. Considering the Patriots have won eight games by more than five runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.

The team relied heavily on Robby Lopez, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with three RBI and two runs. That's the most runs he has posted since back in April of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Marshall Derrick, who went 2-for-3 with four RBI and one double.

Washington always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .543. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Musselman only posted an OBP of .200.

Washington is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 15-9-1 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.2 runs over those games. As for Musselman, they now have a losing record of 14-15.

Coming up, Washington is taking a road trip to square off against Hedgesville at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Eagles will roll in looking for their fifth straight win, something the Patriots surely won't give up without a fight. Musselman does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
