Even though the Munroe Bobcats have not done well against the St. Johns Country Day Spartans recently (they were 0-4 in their previous four matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Wednesday. Munroe managed a 54-48 victory over the Spartans. The win made it back-to-back wins for Munroe.
Mya Mccullar was her usual excellent self, scoring 31 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points she has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Aj Johnson, who scored 14 points.
St. Johns Country Day lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Mary Kate Kent, who scored 21 points along with two steals. That was a full 43.8% of St. Johns Country Day's points, marking the fifth time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Kendall Proffitt, who scored nine points along with eight rebounds and three steals.
Munroe's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 7-15. As for St. Johns Country Day, their loss ended a four-game streak of away wins and brought them to 18-6.
Munroe will take on the Baby Rattlers at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Hopefully FAMU DRS focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 22 on Thursday. As for St. Johns Country Day, they will square off against the Knights at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. First Coast Christian will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Florida Rankings (they are ranked 599th, while the Spartans are ranked 213th).
