Even though the South Plantation Paladins have not done well against the Piper Bengals recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Monday. South Plantation came out on top in a nail-biter against Piper and snuck past 46-43. The win made it back-to-back wins for South Plantation.
Piper's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Tahlia Dolce, who scored 14 points. The matchup was Dolce's third in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Jazell Charles, who scored 13 points.
South Plantation's victory was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 6-4. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 53.8 points per game. As for Piper, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 5-7.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. South Plantation will square off against Deerfield Beach at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Hopefully Deerfield Beach focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up five on Monday. Piper won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Nova at 6:30 p.m. on January 9th. Nova is strutting with some offensive muscle, as they've averaged 53.1 points per game.
