The Denver West Cowboys struggled with assists on Friday (the Vista PEAK Prep Bison had 18 more) and sadly the final score reflected it. Denver West was beaten by the Bison 79-20. Denver West was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 37-11.
Several Cowboys players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Jenny Ruano, who scored six points.
Vista PEAK Prep's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Knakai Starks, who scored 12 points along with eight rebounds and two steals. Starks is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as she's now pulled down eight or more in the last four games she's played. Another player making a difference was Jade Hibbler, who scored eight points along with eight assists and two steals.
Denver West now has a losing record at 7-8. As for Vista PEAK Prep, the victory (which was their ninth in a row) raised their record to 13-4.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Denver West will face off against the Thunderbirds at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Hinkley comes in on a streak of failing to score more than 21 points in their last 12 games, a trend the team is of course eager to reverse. As for Vista PEAK Prep, they will head out on the road to take on the Lancers at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Lincoln is coming into the game on a five-game losing streak.
