Poly is on a eight-game streak of home wins (dating back to last season), while Forest Park is on a ten-game streak of away wins (dating back to last season): one of those streaks is about to end. The Poly Engineers will be home for the holidays to greet the Forest Park Foresters at 5:15 p.m. on Tuesday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the pair will really light up the scoreboard.
Last Thursday, Poly strolled past Western with points to spare, taking the game 56-37.
Poly can attribute much of their success to M. Lowry, who scored 16 points, and London Elliot, who scored 16 points along with five rebounds and four steals. That's the first time this season that Elliot scored 15 or more points. The team also got some help courtesy of C. Mills, who scored no points.
Forest Park has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won four games by 21 points or more this season. They took their game on the road on Thursday with ease, bagging a 80-5 win over Mergenthaler Vo-Tech.
Aliyah Carroll continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines, scoring 17 points. NaJae Malik-El was another key contributor, scoring 13 points.
Poly's win bumped their record up to 5-0. As for Forest Park, their win bumped their record up to an identical 5-0.
Tuesday's game is shaping up to be a scrappy game: Poly have been smashing the glass this season, having only averaged 26.2 rebounds per game. It's a different story for Forest Park, though, as they've been averaging only 16.2 rebounds per game. Given Poly's sizeable advantage in that area, Forest Park will need to find a way to close that gap.
Everything came up roses for Poly against Forest Park when the teams last played back in January as the team secured a 53-22 win. Does Poly have another victory up their sleeve, or will Forest Park turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
