A well-balanced attack led the Butler Bulldogs over the Providence Panthers in every quarter on their way to victory on Tuesday. Butler took down the Panthers 59-42. Given Butler's advantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 98th, while the Panthers are ranked 299th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Tyler Showalter was his usual excellent self, scoring 22 points along with eight rebounds and three steals. Reece Starnes was another key contributor, scoring 16 points.
Butler's win was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 12-7. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 64.3 points per game. As for Providence, their loss dropped their record down to 7-13.
Butler will head out on the road to challenge the Eagles at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. East Mecklenburg has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 242 points over their last four matches.
