Softball Recap: Grapevine Has No Trouble Against Denton

Grapevine won the last time they faced Denton and things went their way on Friday too. The Mustangs were the clear victors by a 14-3 margin over the Broncos. The Mustangs might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won eight matches by six runs or more this season.

Grace Kelley and Ava Snyder did most of the damage at the plate: Kelley went 3-for-4 with four RBI, one triple, and one stolen base, while Snyder scored three runs while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances. Those three hits gave Kelley a new career-high. Brynn Snyder also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen base of the season.

Grapevine has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five games. That's provided a massive bump to their 13-10 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.4 runs on average over those games. As for Denton, their loss was their seventh straight at home, which dropped their record down to 6-16-1.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Grapevine will challenge Ryan at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Raiders' pitching crew has only allowed 3.3 runs per game this season, so the Mustangs' hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Denton, they will host Argyle at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
