Baseball Recap: Washington County Takes a Loss

Washington County and Long squared off in some playoff action on Friday, but Washington County had to settle for second. They fell just short of the Rebels by a score of 5-4. The loss continues a trend for the Bulldogs in their meetings with the Rebels: they've now lost three in a row.

Brayden Bell and Ian Powell did some serious damage despite the final result: Bell went 2-for-5 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double, while Powell went 1-for-5 with one home run and two RBI. Bell has become a key player for Washington County: the team is 2-1 when he posts at least two runs, but 11-19 otherwise.

Washington County's defeat dropped their record down to 13-20. As for Long, their win bumped their record up to 15-7.

While Washington County had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday.
