The Gibsland-Coleman Bulldogs will head out on the road to face off against Family Community Christian at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. Family Community Christian took a loss in their last contest and will be looking to turn the tables on Gibsland-Coleman, who comes in off a win.
Summerfield typically has all the answers at home, but on Tuesday Gibsland-Coleman proved too difficult a challenge. They were the clear victor by a 50-28 margin over the Rebels. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest win Gibsland-Coleman has posted against Summerfield since February 13, 2021.
Gibsland-Coleman can attribute much of their success to Samora Sampson, who scored 15 points along with seven rebounds and six assists, and Baleigh Haulcy, who dropped a double-double on 23 points and 17 rebounds. That's the first time this season that Sampson scored 15 or more points. Ca'Riya Lewis was another key contributor, scoring six points along with three steals.
Meanwhile, Family Community Christian's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their seventh straight loss. They took a hard 73-59 fall against Claiborne Christian. Having run the score up that high, both teams probably have some extra defensive drills coming up.
Gibsland-Coleman's win bumped their record up to 8-12. As for Family Community Christian, their loss was their third straight at home, which dropped their record down to 14-11.
Everything came up roses for Gibsland-Coleman against Family Community Christian in their previous meeting back in January of 2023 as the squad secured a 57-27 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Gibsland-Coleman since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
