The Central Knights will challenge the Rogers Vikings at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday.
Central had been on a five-game streak of scoring at least ten runs, but Cranston East put an end to it on Monday. The Knights came up short against the Thunderbolts, falling 11-1. The Knights' defeat signaled the end of their five-game winning streak.
Central saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Jayleen White, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one RBI.
Meanwhile, Rogers got themselves on the board against Mt. Pleasant on Thursday, but Mt. Pleasant never followed suit. They came out on top against the Kilties by a score of 12-0 (the very same score they lost by in their prior game). The high-scoring effort was just what the Vikings needed considering they were shut out in their previous game.
Lila Leys made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Leys was even better at the plate, scoring two runs while going 3-for-3. She also hit two doubles, marking her first of the season.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Talia Cicilline, who scored two runs while going 2-for-2. Another player making a difference was Amelia Wallace, who scored a run while getting on base in two of her three plate appearances.
The win got Rogers back to even at 2-2. As for Central, their loss dropped their record down to 5-2.
Rogers' pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Central hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .352. It's a different story for Rogers, though, as they've only averaged .256. Will they be able to contain Central's hitters?
Central might still be hurting after the 11-1 defeat they got from Rogers in their previous meeting back in May of 2024. Will the Knights have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check MaxPreps after the match for a full breakdown of the game, commentary, and other softball content.
