Winter Springs had to skate by with only a one-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the eight-run drubbing they dealt Lake Brantley on Tuesday. The Bears' pitchers stepped up to hand the Patriots an 8-0 shutout. The result was nothing new for the Bears, who have now won eight matches by seven runs or more so far this season.

Aiden Smarrito tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only one hit over five innings pitched. He has been consistent for a while: he hasn't given up more than two walks any time he's pitched this season.

Another player making a difference was Tyler Kenast, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one double.

Winter Springs was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .379. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Lake Brantley only posted a batting average of .048.

Winter Springs is on a roll lately: they've won 16 of their last 17 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 19-4 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.5 runs over those games. As for Lake Brantley, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 14-8-1.

Looking ahead, Winter Springs will head out to challenge Timber Creek at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Wolves' pitching crew has only allowed 3.4 runs per game this season, so the Bears' hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Lake Brantley, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Deltona at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday.
