The Eagle Ridge Academy Warriors's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their third straight defeat. They took a 50-34 bruising from Forge Christian. The result was an unpleasant reminder to Eagle Ridge Academy of the 50-35 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in February of 2023.
Despite the defeat, Eagle Ridge Academy saw an underclassman step up: Jaz Greenwood dropped a double-double on 12 points and 16 steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Carole Tamburino, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and 11 rebounds.
Even though they lost, Eagle Ridge Academy smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 22 offensive rebounds. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Forge Christian only pulled down 12 offensive rebounds.
Forge Christian found their leader in underclassman Finley Queen, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and 12 rebounds. Gabriella Geypens was another key contributor, scoring 17 points along with five rebounds and two steals.
Eagle Ridge Academy has traveled a rocky road recently having lost nine of their last ten games, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-11 record this season. As for Forge Christian, their victory bumped their record up to 7-9.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Eagle Ridge Academy will take on Kent Denver at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. The timing is sure in Kent Denver's favor as the team sits on five straight wins at home while Eagle Ridge Academy has been banged up by four consecutive losses on the road. As for Forge Christian, they will take on Prospect Ridge Academy at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. Forge Christian has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last four games.
