Central Suburban - South recap Sept. 26, 2012
Waukegan moved up to 231 from 299 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in Central Suburban - South. The Bulldogs were able to make the jump by beating the Bulldogs 13-0.
Glenbrook South was the team that gained the most ground in the standings this week, jumping from sixth to third in the league. The Titans vanquished Evanston 24-8 earlier in the week.
Niles West's offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Mike McGivern threw for 72 yards and Andrew Milhulet had 38 yards receiving. On the ground Anthony Underwood chipped in 82 yards. Tommy Williams helped Niles West's passing attack out by catching two balls for 31 yards.
The Wolves' McGivern and Milhulet have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading the league in both passing and receiving yards. McGivern has thrown for 586 yards this season, while Milhulet, a 5-foot-9 receiver, has 28 catches for 275 yards. Frank Nicholas from New Trier leads the league in rushing with 410 yards.
The top two teams in Central Suburban - South will face off this week when first place Niles West takes on second place Maine South. Last week, Niles West defeated Waukegan, while Maine South topped the Trevians.
Scott Baum's team extended the longest winning streak in the league this week by beating Nick Browder's team, 13-0. This was the team's fifth consecutive win.
