The Mt. Abraham Eagles will head out to square off against the Otter Valley Otters at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday. Both come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Mt. Abraham proved they can win big on Monday (they won by 12) and on Tuesday they proved they can win the close ones too. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 5-3 win over Harwood. The Eagles haven't had any issues with the Highlanders recently, as the game was their third consecutive victory against them.
Clark Crary and Abe Ready did most of the damage at the plate: Crary went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases and three runs, while Ready went 2-for-3 with two doubles, two RBI, and one run. That's the most doubles Ready has posted since back in May of 2025. Another player making a difference was Cameron Castillo, who went 2-for-4 with two RBI.
Otter Valley came out on top against Fair Haven on Tuesday thanks in part to the team's impressive five-run first inning. The Otters never let the Slaters get on the board and left with a 10-0 win. That's two games straight that the Otters have won by exactly ten runs.
Jackson Howe made a splash while hitting and pitching. He didn't allow a single earned run while striking out 15 over six innings pitched. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances. He was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with one home run, four RBI, and one double. That home run marked the first that he has launched this season.
In other batting news, Otter Valley let Jacob Warrell and Max Potter run wild. Warrell got on base in three of his five plate appearances with four stolen bases and four runs, while Potter went 2-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. That home run was Potter's first of the season. The team also got some help courtesy of Dominyk Waite, who went 2-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.
Otter Valley lost a few balls and finished the game with two home runs. That's the most home runs they've managed all season.
Mt. Abraham's record is now 2-0-1. As for Otter Valley, their record now sits at 3-0-1.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Saturday as neither team is afraid to steal. Mt. Abraham has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.3 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Otter Valley struggles in that department as they've been averaging 4.2 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Mt. Abraham came out on top in a nail-biter against Otter Valley when the teams last played back in May of 2025, sneaking past 7-6. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Eagles since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
