Softball Recap: Danbury's Win on Monday Extends Winning Streak to Two

Danbury hadn't done well against Ludlowe recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Monday. The Hatters' pitcher stepped up to hand the Falcons a 3-0 shutout. The Hatters were shut out 4-0 the last time they took on the Falcons, so the Hatters were just returning the favor.

The result came thanks to Abigail O'Dell's shutout, as she gave up just four hits and racked up nine Ks.

At the plate, Danbury's win was truly a team effort as three different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Jacqueline Marks, who went 1-for-2 with one home run and two RBI.

The victory made it two in a row for Danbury and bumps their season record up to 6-1. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 7 runs in those games. As for Ludlowe, they now have a losing record of 3-4.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Danbury will venture away from home to face off against Westhill at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Vikings have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed nine runs per game on average), something the Hatters will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Ludlowe, they are taking a road trip to take on New Canaan at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Rams will roll in looking for their sixth straight victory, something the Falcons surely won't give up without a fight.
