The Waverly Vikings fought the good fight in their overtime game against the Scottsbluff Bearcats on Friday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Bearcats by a score of 64-62. Even though they lost, Waverly's still made a splash on offense and bumped their average scoring up to 50.3 points per game (they're now ranked -1th in scoring overall).
Despite the loss, Waverly still got an impressive performance from Keaton Rine, who scored 21 points. Those 21 points set a new season-high mark for him. Reece Bader was another key contributor, scoring 11 points.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Scottsbluff to victory, but perhaps none more so than Carter Reisig, who scored 18 points along with seven rebounds. Those 18 points set a new season-high mark for him. The team also got some help courtesy of Nate Kelley, who scored nine points along with 11 assists and three steals.
Waverly's loss was their third straight on the road, which bumped their record down to 3-6. As for Scottsbluff, the victory (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 9-1.

One thing working in Crete's favor is that they have posted big point totals every time they've taken the court this season.
